Well, I’m back and I just finished my first day of classes!
I had oceanography and two Spanish courses: Hispanic Literature and Spanish
Culture and Civilization. Oceanography sounds like it is going to be awesome,
especially since we have to attend a mandatory field trip for a weekend at the
BEACH kayaking, snorkeling, sailing and swimming! We also get to go to the
Yacht Club which sounds fancy. My Spanish Culture and Civilization class also
has a field trip to El Camino. Not bad for my first day of classes. However, my
Spanish classes seem intense and scare me in a way because it consists mostly
of full-time fluent Spanish speaking students. I think living in Spain and
constantly having to speak the language will help me out, no doubt about that.
All my classes are in the same building which is extremely convenient for me
(not to mention there are only two buildings for which classes are held in).
Both buildings have steps outside which in my opinion is a great aspect because
it brings the courtyard together with the classrooms and you get to be outside
more often considering it hardly rains here. For lunch I had this really good salami and
cheese sandwich heated up on baguette. It was absolutely DELICIOUS even though it
was a little more on the pricey side. I still have some more exploring with
people to do to find good lunch places around campus instead of settling for
the pricey school food even though it is soooo tasty. I also signed up for
horseback riding with some friends from home and golf today!! The best/funny
part is the guy in charge of the sports asked me if I would be interested in
teaching golf lessons to students. I think it would be hilarious to return back
home and tell family/friends that I studied abroad and taught golf lessons in
Spain. So hopefully I’ll be horseback riding through the Spanish mountains and
golfing on the desert golf courses in no time!
